How old must my child be to join First Tee?

Children must be at least 7-years-old to join First Tee West Texas.

Is there a Program Fee?

$250 for all levels and for the entire 8-week program.

How do I register my child for First Tee?
  • From our website select Register My Child. Read any information available.
  • At the bottom of the page select Start Registration. You will then Login using your previous login email address and password.
  • If you have never registered a child before, you will need to first create an account using your email address and a password.
  • ***IMPORTANT: At registration if you have forgotten your password, request a new password using the email address you have used previously during registration. Do Not Create a New Account with a different email address as this may result in your child missing a current enrollment.
What class do I register for?

First Tee is progressive. All newbies will register for a Player class. Returning participants who have only attended 1-2 Player classes will register for a Player class. Other returning participants will register for PAR or Birdie class depending on their current certification level.

What happens after I register my child?

You will receive and email confirming your registration. This will include the specific session program name, location, and class date – time. We recommend that your print the email and make a note on your calendar. If you do not find your confirmation email, check your spam or trash folder in your email app.

When are First Tee programs offered and at what time?

Typically – Spring, Summer, and Fall. Classes start at 6:00 p.m. and conclude no later than 7:30 p.m. We may also conduct other special programs and events throughout the year.

What level will my child start in First Tee?

All participants start at the Player level.

Will my child advance in First Tee?

Absolutely! All participants begin at the Player level. Then, over time and as they age and become more skilled at golf while gaining a foundation and understanding of our Life-Skills curriculum, they will have the opportunity to certify and advance to the next level such as: Par, Birdie, Eagle and Ace.

My son or daughter already plays golf. Can they start at a higher level?

All participants must start at the Player level and will be required to attend at least one full 8-week session before possibly certifying and advancing to the next level.

My daughter or son is 11, 12, 13, 14 years old. Will they have to attend class with 7-9 year old participants?

Not necessarily, but they will begin at the Player level.

Does my child need to have golf clubs?

If your child has a golf club set, they are welcome to bring them. If not, you can request a loner set during registration. Golf Headquarters in Midland also offers a generous First Tee discount.

Do you offer financial aid?

Yes. During registration, you may request financial aid. We will review your request and notify you if approved.

Do you offer discounts for siblings?

Yes.

Can my kids attend the same class and location?

It’s possible. Please call our office prior to enrollment.

How many weeks are the programs?

8 continuous weeks.

How often will my child attend class?

Your child will attend once each week at their enrolled program location.

How many First Tee coaches instruct the classes?

We’ll have three to four First Tee-trained coaches at each class. Additionally, all coaches have passed a federal and state background check as well as completing nationally recognized SafeSport training.

What if the weather is bad?

If our coaches determine that weather conditions are unsafe or threatening and not conducive to being outdoors, they will cancel class. We will make every effort to notify parents 30 minutes before class time. In progress classes may also be canceled if dangerous weather approaches. Participants will be sheltered indoors until a parent or guardian arrives.

What if my child misses a class?

We understand that sometimes a situation might arise preventing your child from attending. However, it’s very important to attend each class as advancing in First Tee is also dependent on attendance.

How will First Tee communicate with parents?

During program sessions our primary communication method is through the Remind app. Other times we may use email, phone, text, social media, and our website. At the first class ask your coach for a Remind code.

Can I get a refund?

We only provide a refund if you call our office and cancel your enrollment no later than 7 days before your enrolled class is scheduled to begin. Thereafter, we are unable provide a refund.

Can I transfer my paid program fee to another session?

We are unable to transfer program fees to another season/session.
